kernel upgrade problem
hi all,
i have a dual pentium (coppermine) processor machine and i was running kernel
version 2.2.19. i am trying to upgrade to kernel 2.4.17.
when i installed the kernel-image 2.4.17 and rebooted the machine,
i got the message
Total of 2 Processors activated (3742.10 BogoMIPS).
Enabling IO-APIC IRQs
Setting 2 in the phys_id_present_map
...changing io-apic physical APIC ID to 2 ... ok
.. TIME: vector=0x31 pin1=2 pin2=0
and the machine hangs after this message.
what is going on?
any help would be gratefully appreciated,
