At wits end, Xeon Dlt700/scsi problems.
Short of it is, dlt7000 doesnt work. Ill go through what ive done to it.
Linux phoenix 2.4.17 #4 SMP Thu Jan 31 10:24:19 EST 2002 i686 unknown
phoenix:/usr/src/linux/linux# cat /etc/debian_version
3.0
Lilo parameters
append="nmi_watchdog=0 mem=1279M st=64"
dmesg shows the 4 cpus, 36gig raid5/8 gig raid0(hardware, IBM Pc
Serveraid) with reiserfs, scsi disks working perfectly (tested)
Tape drive.
st: Version 20011103, bufsize 65536, wrt 63488, max init. bufs 4, s/g segs 16
Attached scsi tape st0 at scsi0, channel 1, id 5, lun 0
st0: Block limits 2 - 16777214 bytes.
Using mt I can status, tell and rewind tape (use mt -f /dev/nst0 tell
etc). As soon as I do a read/write or erase (be that a dd, tar, cat,
anything), it chugs away for a few minutes, I get...
phoenix:/tmp# dd if=/dev/nst0 of=/tmp/a
dd: reading `/dev/nst0': Input/output error
0+0 records in
0+0 records out
Which does...
(ips0) Resetting controller.
scsi: device set offline - not ready or command retry failed after host
reset: host 0 channel 1 id 5 lun 0
st0: Error 30000 (sugg. bt 0x0, driver bt 0x0, host bt 0x3).
Now drive is unaccessable till reboot.
Ive tried multpiple disks, adding/removing parts of kernel and looking at
st_options.h
Anyone have any comments or advice about it ?
The drive also worked under NT 4 last week.
Thanks in advance.
