I'm not familiar with the pre-compiled kernel, but I'm guessing
it just doesn't have the fb stuff in it. You'll probably need to
compile your own version of 2.4.17.
It looks like you have a head start though. If fb is the only
thing not working, you can import the precompiled versions config
and just add the fb stuff.
