insmod bttv does not find TV card--says no such device???

My Pinnacle studio PCTV pro card shows up in /proc/pci and i can load all the
required modules (tuner, videodev,i2c)...but when i
#insmod bttv card=52
...it says no such device.

Syslog  shows :
... bttv: driver version 0.7.83 loaded
... bttv: using 2 buffers with 2080k (4160k total) for capture
... bttv: Host bridge is Silicon Integrated Systems 
......but then it fails to find the card.

#/proc/pci shows:
 Bus  0, device  17, function  0:
