Are you sure that the parallel port driver is loaded into the kernel?  I
have cups printing to a Brother 1040 via the parallel port with no
problems.

You might want to go ahead and edit the cups configs by hand, and then
see what errors cupsd spits back at you as well.  I never used the web
setup utility.

Have to agree, though.  CUPS kicks but... with any luck, I'll never have
to use LPR or LPRng again.
