Not sure what you mean by this - what has dhcp got to do with compiling 
kernels

What settings are you taking about.  /etc/network/interfaces should define 
all your interfaces - use the dhcp setting (man interfaces has the details)

This is known about - but the maintainer is apparently not able to connect to 
the net until sometime this weekend to fix.  You should see the fix propagate 
through shortly.
