Euro sign on console

I'm trying to get the Euro sign on console and have no success.
If the login tool is asking for username and password it is
possible to type and see an Euro sign. But not after i logged
in with any username. I did all like explained in the Debian
Euro HOWTO. I'm very confused.

I've a running woody. Locales i generated with locale-gen. And
both keymaps (boottime.kmap, default.kmap) includes support for
Euro sign.Any ideas?

Here my condig files:

/etc/endironment:

LC_ALL=en_IE@euro
LANG=en_IE@euro
