great; works. i will refrain from asking "why," since the answer is
probably "just because."

i am.

well, if you ask *that* nicely ... !

orange:~> dpkg -l "*xserver*" | grep "^ii"

i didn't. but there aren't. the only thing modified in /etc/postfix
on Jan 8 is main.cf. okay, manpage time ... but after this champagne
... which i think means tomorrow ;)

scheiss. because it seems to be preventing a lot ...

no.

"man pages will be moved ... to some directory ... you have to do
something about this ..." ... i'm not being too helpful, i know.

> a grep in /var/lib/dpkg/info should help you...

okkay, grepped (would that be the past participle?!), and i find an
executable "man-db.config", which looks promising.

however, upon executing ...

orange:/var/lib/dpkg/info> man-db.config                               [63,127]
perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LANGUAGE = (unset),
        LC_ALL = (unset),
        LANG = "en"
    are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").
debconf: DbDriver "configdb" error: could not open /var/cache/debconf/config.dat: Permission denied

so, i su, and try it again, taking a clue from the "permission denied"
line, and it tells me

orange:/var/lib/dpkg/info# man-db.config
bash: man-db.config: command not found

damn locales.
