ssh was upgraded a while ago. I probably didn't log in to my box
remotely or pay attention (especially since I see it so much at
school).

AFAIK 'login' is what outputs the MOTD (Message Of The Day) which is
stored in /etc/motd.

Yeah. Instead of "en" use "en_US" and see if that helps.
