It's because mutt, samba and others depend on mail-transport-agent, and 
both exim and postfix provide mail-transport-agent, and have dependencies 
set so you can have only one mail-transport-agent installed at one time. 
So no problem here, and all above mentioned packages will work with 
postfix.
