Sure, if anything (eg 'lp' or 'lpr') can spool to the local printer.
What's the remote system, and do you have admin access to it?  The
solution (only one I know of) is to setup a queue that feeds to the
local machine (ipp, lpd, or smb protocols are most common), then tell
mutt to use that printer.
