Re: trident: incredibly crappy sound

Hi
I've got the same card
#lspci -v
00:00.0 Host bridge: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 630 Host (rev 21)
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64

00:01.4 Multimedia audio controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS PCI Audio
Accelerator (rev 02)
Subsystem: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] SiS PCI Audio Accelerator

after a brief fight with alsa-source
#uname -r
2.4.16-686

#lsmod | grep snd

problems:
 - can't turn the volume up too much. I get distorted sound if the volume is > 95%
 - alsa is very kernel specific and will need complete sources of your kernel as
   sources for alsa
