# apt-get install uw-imapd-ssl mailsync

uw-imapd-ssl is an imap server and pretty much works out of the box.
mailsync is as the name suggests, for synchronizing mail folders.  It's
mainly supposed to be imap <-> imap but it can work with pop3 too.
