This one goes thataway.

I believe there's a PDP-11 emulator that runs under GNU/Linux, try
"Ersatz-11" and "CHARON-11".   My understanding is that it's faster than
real life ;-)

Google raises some linux-kernel discussions you might want to look at.
Doesn't look too promising though.
