Do you run SMP, need USB support,...?

Unless you know you need 2.4, it may be smart not to change to 2.4
series.  Until kernel hits 2.x.10 or something, I think it is smart to
stay with older kernel if your system is important.  If you feel like
experimenting, update system and set it to dual boot 2.2 and 2.4.  Oh, I
think you need to update several supporting programs to get 2.4 running.

Redundant and maybe bettrer to be removed

If anything breaks due to these, Debian is not responsible
