It's *totally* unacceptable to me.

I'm in the process of shopping for a new AGP card and based on the performance specs had decided to buy a GeForce2, either a GTS or a MX. After evaluating their support for the Free Software Foundation and/or OpenSource community, NVIDA has been dropped from consideration.

I think I'll take another look at the Matrox G450.

Seeing the fact that most Debian users I know are considering the idea of OpenSource or even 'free software' according to Stallman's ideas an important thing,

Make that the single *most* important thing.

Please write me if you're also using an NVidia-chipset based card and if you also dislike their way of distributing device drivers and thus introducing proprietary pieces of software in a basically open operating system...

I'd be happy to have my name added to the petition, but it's already too late for them to sell me a card.
