Youhei! That was the reason. Do you have any idea how this could have
happened? 
I must say that I have a bit of a not-ordinary system for about three
days. My root is mounted as NFS and I did a fresh install over NFS. But I
had done it before with a less loaded install, and it worked perfectly.
