	That's the way you used to do it.  If your running Potato just -
	apt-get install netscape-smotif-472
	or whatever version you want.  Search for the exact packages at
	the debian web site.

	Stick the tar file in /usr/local
	unpack it with "tar xvfz file.tar.gz"
	cd to the new directory created and read the documentation there
	usually INSTALL or README is a good place to start.
	I don't use windowmaker, sorry.
