/usr/share/doc/postgresql-doc/ is where i began to catch on,
after oliver patiently and kindly held my hand thru some
terrifying spaghetti-like situations...
once i figure out how to access the embedded-perl thing,
i'll have a whole new mess to learn! (anybody got some pointers
to online documentation on plperl/pgperl/pg-emb-perl?)
