Not especially, apart from being able to point-and-shoot with the
kernel-image packages. I think most experienced users vastly prefer
compiling kernels from source.
Have a look at the kernel-package package (hm, not the best of
sentences), which allows you easily to build kernel-image packages
yourself from a kernel source tree you've configured yourself.
