HPT370 is an IDE DMA/100 (or 66?) controller _NOT_ scsi.

to install debian you must move the drive to the onboard IDE
controller(DMA33) then you can try to find drivers for the DMA66/100
controller after installation is completed and move the drive back to
the DMA66/100 controller. Unless you make your own bootdisk, but its
easier to do the above (IMO).
