compiling Pine in Debian 2.2

I have been trying to install Pine with unsuccessful results. I have
compiler output, but I don't know how to transfer it to this computer from
mine at home ( I connect via telnet).

The error message I get is:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lncurses
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [pine] Error 1

Links to executables are in bin directory:
size: bin/pine: No such file or directory

Done

Do I need to install lncurses?
