DNS conflicts telnet

I had installed GNU Debian Linux 2.1 as a DNS server, but I´m having
problems with telnet. I configured the machine accept telnet requisitions,
I have telnetd installed in the machine, but the problem is, when I have
named running, and try to connect remotely in the machine using telnet, I
don´t receive a prompt.

If I stop named, and try again, I receive the prompt, but doesn´t how I
tried, I can´t login, because the system sends me a "password is not
correct". And when I go locally to logon, my user receive a message that
"x" times he had a problem to login.

The strange is, when I running named, and try a connection by telnet, I can
see the process in.telnetd running, responding to the requisition, but no
prompt!!!

What could be happening?

Thank you all,

Alceu
