Yes, but that patched version has several other new experimental
changes that aren't guaranteed to be stable yet. The whole
authentication system has been ripped out and replaced with
something completely different (an authentication daemon).

It's better to go with a released, known stable version (0.31) and
then port the critical bugfixes of the development version back
to that stable version. It's a very common thing in open source
projects - even the Linux kernel uses this approach.
