those are packet errors, the modem connection protocol V42BIS (?) will
attempt internal error correction when possible..i dont know of any way to
view those stats.  when i used NT(before i saw the light) a few years back
the DUN there had modem stats: CRC, Timeout, Alignment, Framing, Hardware
overruns, buffer overruns.
