never mind on install problems...



Well, I took my debian linux laptop, and compiled a new kernel on it for
the desktop computer I was using.  Dropped that new kernel into a
resc1440.bin floppy image file, a little dd action, and my problem went
away.

Thanks to all for not telling me how stupid I was to try a little elbow
grease before posting to the list.
