mount (automount?) /etc/mtab problem

Hi,

I had to reinstall all my slink system, and among others I installed two
packages which I didn't have in my previous installation: autofs and mount.

Now, if I edit /etc/mtab to have a partition mounted on a directory
which I created, when I reboot the system, it doesn't mount it (that's
/dev/hda9 on /alt):

/dev/hda1 / ext2 rw,errors=remount-ro 0 0
proc /proc proc rw 0 0
/dev/hda5 /usr ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda6 /usr/doc ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda7 /usr/X11R6 ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda8 /home ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda10 /usr/local ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda11 /opt ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda12 /var ext2 rw 0 0
/dev/hda13 /tmp ext2 rw 0 0
automount(pid183) /amnt autofs rw,fd=5,pgrp=183,minproto=2,maxproto=3 0 0
/dev/hda9 /alt ext2 rw 0 0

what's wrong here?

Regards,
