I always give my hernels a revision of the format x.y.zz-hostname.rev,
where x.y.zz is the kernel version, hostname is my hostname, and rev is 1
for the first, 2 for the second, and so on. The only one i had trouble
with is 2.2.5, since the kernel-image package maintainer used an epoch
there.

YMMV
