Become root.

First, ensure that the line

/usr/X11R6/lib

is in the file /etc/ld.so.conf.

Then run the ldconfig command (no arguments).

The post-installation script for the xlib6g package (which contains the
libXmu shared library) does the above steps, so theoretically, a reinstall
of the xlib6g package should fix the problem as well.
