I agree here. Dselect's search function only applies to the
package name. It doesn't allow a search for the contents of a
package's description nor does it support a search based on the
packages's section (base/X11/editors/misc, ad nauseum). I'd like
to be able to view the package list as a collapsable tree where I
could, for example, collapse all lists except the list of files in
the X11 section.

Read up on the --get-selection parameter for dpkg. It may be
helpful.
