OT Apache and whitespaces

Howdy,

this is probably not the correct list to contact but I don't
know where to ask for it otherwise.

I have a directory on my webserver (running apache 1.3.1)
that has a whitespace in it's name (sorry, PC stuff :-( ).
unfortunately I don't succeed in creating any link to this
directory (except by explicitly replacing all spaces with
%20 in the links, but since I can't control who creates the
link this is not an option). Apache unfortunately ignores
everything that comes after the space.

Is there any way to make apache behave as if " " was a normal
character?

Thanks in advance,

Nico
