Re: Slink:Problem with AHA2940 UW

I maintain a set of unofficial install-disk images with the aic7xxx
driver patched to various version. In the last few days, I've had
SEVERAL people contact me with similar problems. The short story:
versions >= 5.1.11 of the aic7xxx driver seem to be broken for a number
of configurations (the official slink disks have 5.1.11). I'm in the
process of putting together a new diskset containing version 5.1.10,
which will be posted at "http://www.debian.org/~adric/aic7xxx/slink/";.
It should be available there within an hour or so...

If you are able to successfully install with that diskset, please send
me the full contentst of everything under /proc/scsi, as well as
anything else that seems relevant to your SCSI configuration (adapter
model and BIOS version, etc.). I'm trying to get the relevant
information together for forwarding to the aic7xxx mailing-list.

As a side-note, I understand that auto-termination is not recommended
with the aic7xxx driver (apparently too many variations in how well
different adapters support it)... you may want to consider turning it
off and ensuring that all your devices are properly terminated.
