Hi, 
It should be done but you'll probably have to compile your own kernel with
make zImage. Kernel compiled with make bzImage test for the presence of 3 MB
of extended RAM. The default install kernel is made with bzImage ! 
Install ash and make it the default kernel before rebooting the machine.
