Another apt question

Hello,

now having managed the Hamm->Slink upgrade successfull and working with
    apt I got 2 questions:

     1) What are these "kept" packages? Well the following pcmcia-modules
package was set to hold but during the upgrade there were a few
others in "Kept" state. How can a tell apt to upgrade these?

      Valhalla:/etc:2# apt-get upgrade
      Updating package status cache...done
      Checking system integrity...ok
The following packages have been kept back
        pcmcia-modules-2.0.34 doc-linux-text
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.

     2) Installing gnome a "dpkg -l '*gnome*'" gives me a "No packages found"
message but installing them works. Is the available-file broken?

      Valhalla:/etc:2# apt-get install gnome-control-center [...]
      Updating package status cache...done
      Checking system integrity...ok
The following extra packages will be installed:
        libzvt0 libcapplet0
The following NEW packages will be installed:
        libzvt0 gnome-control-center libcapplet0 gnome-terminal gnome-session
0 packages upgraded, 5 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 175k of archives. After unpacking 424k will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n]
      Get ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de slink/main libcapplet0 [10.9k]
      Get ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de slink/main libzvt0 [34.6k]
      Get ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de slink/main gnome-control-center [84.3k]
      Get ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de slink/main gnome-session [22.7k]
      Get ftp://ftp.uni-erlangen.de slink/main gnome-terminal [22.3k]
      Fetched 175k in 2s (59.1k/s)
      [...]

                Thanks -- Peter
