Boot-up dialog messages

I am getting several messages that have crept into my boot-up dialog
over a period of time. System is hamm > slink > potato with the
2.1.127 kernel.
After the "Checking root file system" and fsck runs, i get:
SH: AWK: command not found
SH: AWK: command not found
SH: AWK: command not found

Then the isapnp probe runs for my soundcard.

After "Mounting local file systems" runs, the "network" script seems
to cause:
SIOCADDRT: Invalid argument

Then when "Setserial" runs I get:
TIOCSER?WILD ioctl obsolete, ignored (this message repeats once more)

I would like to get rid of the unnecessary error messages if anyone
can assist me in finding the causes. Thank you!
