Installation error in hamm lowmem on Laptop
Hi!
My problem is:
I installed bo (kernel 2.29-6) without Problems on my
Austin Laptop (Phenix BIOS) 640k+3Mb
(Installation with the rescue floppy to load lowmemroot. The
first installation menu (partition, swap, temp_root) is already
flanked by a alt-f2 sh and a alt-f3 error. ok ... Initialization
of swap and temp_root is verified by messages)
Now I tried to install hamm 2.34-4 lowmem and ran into
problems. I cannot proceed beyond the partition program.
I do not get alt-f2 sh and a alt-f3 error virtuals ...
Initialization of swap is not verified. I can start
the dd to the temp_root but there seem to be only
some attempts to dump from the floppy. It is definitely not done!
a boot from floppy (rescue root=/dev/fd0) results in:
"unable to open an initial console"
I tried a trick and dumped the hamm lowmem floppy to the
temp_root using the bo diskdump! then I booted from
harddisk using the rescue floppy. I could configure
the installation as usual and rebooted.
before the appearence of the login prompt I got:
"cannot convert tty to tty01" (similar at all other virtuals)
I could not log in!
Sorry for the long story but this is really weird!
Anyone got an Idea what to do ?
Thanks and cu
Anton
