;) Not the Gimp itself, it si the graphics that suck the memory (imagine
1000x700 32 bit multiple layer pics and then you know why ;)

RAM is cheap, but a good monitor is a bit expensive. be sure to get high
refresh rates, and it is okay. I think a 17" Monitor is optimal for your
boy. Don't waste your money on 15" ;). The 14" are ok for text terminals,
I would say.
