I have used a lot of ne cards but have yet to see one with io=ff80.  The
usual values are 280-360.  If you are using w95 to get these values look
again and see if there is not something in that range.

To install a deb package abc_1.2-1.deb I would issue the command:-
dpkg -iGE /path/to/abc_1.2-1.deb.  It will be installed if there are no
un-met dependancies.

Just run dselect again, I guess.

No.  Linux users are given credit for both knowledge and brains so you
must make the effort to get the figures.  Either from a manual or
sometimes the frequencies are on the back of the monitor.

A cheap monitor should be able to do 30-38 Khz horizontal and 50-80 Hz
vertical so you will not hurt anything if you specify these in the
meantime, though the result be be a lot of flicker.
