Diagnostic:
You have a real bad grep.

Prescription:
Upload the "lattest-and-better" grep package from your nearest incoming directory
or wait for its upload on a ftp site:

ftp://ftp1.us.debian.org/debian-incoming
ftp://nonus.debian.org/debian-incoming
[and many other]
