The sbpcd driver is for Creative's proprietary CD-ROM interface to a
range of drives made by Panasonic (and a variety of compatible ones),
not for IDE ones attached to one of their cards.

I've only seen ATAPI CD-ROMs going when attached to the motherboard's
IDE interface.  Do you have a spare controller, or space for a second
drive on your IDE controller?
