Kernel error messages- pls. help (II)

G'day --

I am not sure if my last message has made it to the list (I've gotten
an error message from smtp at aol(?) that debian-user doesn't accept
the mail w. attachments...So, please forgive me if I'm repeating
myself. Now; to the problem at hand:
while browsing the Net, at the one of the GnuPlot example file pages,
my Netscape 3.04 crashed taking down the whole X-window process, taking
me to the virtual console from where it was started using 'startx'
command. The error was 'out of memory'. This is not a problem I
thought, and happily typed in a 'startx' cmd again. This time my
background wouldn't come up, only the grayish, default pattern.
Additionaly none of my Afterstep Wharf (Icons) would start, and the
same happened to my rxvt which is started from .xinitrc file. The only
thing working was the menus and when I picked 'exit' from the menu; I
could exit without a problem( no hang-ups or anything). After I
shutdown the machine ('shutdown -h now') and re-start it; everything is
fine and working. However my syslog has a whole slew of messages about
the general protection. The part of the syslog was included in the
attachment in my original post; but since that has caused the error, I
will include that output in this message- I apologize if this is a
waste of the bandwidth. Worse part is that that occured about two weeks
ago, also; then thru a crash of the Navigator 4.03. That is why I'd
like to get to the bottom of this...my system is pure libc5, with
2.0.30 kernel compiled on this machine. I've installed x-packages v.
3.3-4 from bo, but everything else is Debian 1.3.Server is
xserver-mach64. Can anyone explain to me in plain english what this
output mean; and what seems to be causing the problem?
Thank you
DamirN
