Which version of sendmail? 8.7.5-3 should configure semi-automatically.
It seems you're using an 8.6.* version.

No, sendmail is started with the option -q30. That means it tries to deliver
queued mail every 30 minutes. You can start this by hand by typing 'sendmail
-q'. Or do you mean something different?
