CD-ROM misbehaving
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hi,
I run Debian 0.93R6 quite happily, and I have started using a GoldStar
CD-ROM drive (GCD-R540B). This is an ATAPI drive and it is recognized
by my system. However, when I access the data on the disk this is what
the kernel complains about:
Jan 27 17:09:15 deselby kernel: hdb: cdrom_read_from_buffer: buffer botch (515)
Jan 27 17:09:15 deselby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 0340, sector 515
Jan 27 17:09:17 deselby kernel: hdb: cdrom_read_from_buffer: buffer botch (599)
Jan 27 17:09:17 deselby kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev 0340, sector 599
This goes on forever. At times I can see only a few of the files on
the disk, then a second later more files are there. Programs that try
to read from the disk complain about unexpected EOF or file not found.
This is my fstab entry,
/dev/hdb /cdrom iso9660 defaults,noauto,ro,user 0 0
if it can be useful.
Is it my drive, my kernel or something else?
Thanks,
Giuseppe
