Recebi uma resposta da lista ao meu pequeno problema e agradeço muito por ela. Nessa resposta se comentou que, da versão 7.3 para cima, o Xorg teria um sistema capaz de identificar placas Intel automaticamente, portanto verifiquei através lista de pacotes do Debian, que a versão lenny do Xorg era justamente a 7.3, então tentei o upgrade do apt-get, removi as cesões relacionadas à placa gráfica e reiniciei o PC; sem resultados. Utilizei também o apt-get install xorg, o que instalou dois pacotes: o xorg (estranho; eu pensei que ele já estava instalado) e o xorg-docs. Reiniciei novamente o computador e vi que não tinha surtido efeito. Quanto à troca da arquitetura de aceleração do GL;.. eu não tenho experiencia alguma nisso portanto gostaria de receber mais informações sobre, antes de uma tentativa.
