mkfs.ext3 - problem

Witam

na nowy dysk kumpel w oddziale przeniosl system, teraz chce podzielic 
niewykorzystane miejsce na partycje odpalam cfdiska dziele to co zostalo na 
partycje zapisuje konfiguracje odpalam mkfs.ext3 i oto jaki dostaje 
komunikat

mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda11
mke2fs 1.37 (21-Mar-2005)
mkfs.ext3: No such device or address while trying to determine filesystem 
size

Nie ma takiego urzadzenia jak partycja jest stworzona i ls -la /dev/hda11 
pokazuje to:
ls -la /dev/hda11
