Das mutet seltsam an. Als ob er die README *ausführen* oder auswerten
versucht.
Was sagt denn: "ls -lah /etc/grub.d/"?
Ist die README womöglich als executable markiert? Was steht darin? Wer
hat sie dort hingelegt?
Ein Paket kannst Du übrigens mittels "dpkg-reconfigure PAKETNAME" neu
konfigurieren. Alternativ kannst Du es komplett neu drüberinstallieren
mittels "apt-get install --reinstall PAKETNAME".
