Roter PS1/Bash Prompt - der ganze Text im Putty ist rot

Hallo erstmal

folgendes im .bashrc:

[sven@etch27:~ ] $ cat .bashrc
PS1="\[\033[31m\][\u@\h:\w ] $ "

Da dies ein Produktionssystem ist möchte ich den Prompt rot haben.
Leider ist alles rot (connecte mit Putty).
