Gucke mal nach /etc/default/rcS:

Das sollte in den meisten Fällen helfen, wenn nicht, wird doch das Auto
notwendig oder z.B. eine vom Kunden eingelegte GRML-CD, über die Du
vielleicht per SSH dann das originale Filesystem reparieren kannst. Oder
serielle Konsole oder anderes (HP ILO, PepperCon, ...).
