Also die RTL-8139C sind nicht gerade berühmt für ihre Stabilität.
Bei 260 GByte Traffic können die schon kippen.
Prinzipiell verwende ich 3Com 3c905C (100MBit), 3c509B (10MBit),
via-rhine (100MBit), AMD PCNet32 (100MBit) oder Intel 1000MT (GBit).
Mit denen habe ich noch nie ein problem gehabt.

Kernel 2.4.27 zum testen installierst ?
