x-window-system-core nicht direkt, aber es depends von xbase-clients,
das wiederum xlibs benötigt.
xlibs brauchste für alle plain/x applicationen
Bin sicher, das Du nicht x-window-system-core sondern xserver-xfree86
installier hattest, weshalb xlibs fehlte.
